Like all of us, Michaux has been affected by what's going on in the world today. His new record, "Whats Going On ... Still ..." deals with all the same issues Marvin did 39 years ago. Interestingly, not much has changed. We still have perpetuating wars, lack of jobs, deadly oil spills, poverty all over the world and this makes us all want to holler, or at least it should.

This music was recorded LIVE in England using vintage microphones and analog tape. No retakes, no computer magic here. This is real musicians playing together the way musicians used to play together before digital and computers. Many years ago, musicians and singers played and sang together in a room all at the same time and the engineer captured these moments and froze them in time. Breeze - The Sound of Breeze

Naseem Murakami, stage name Breeze, derived from the term “Gentle Cool Breeze” which is the Arabic translation of her birth name, was born in Japan where she grew up in Tokyo. Exhibiting a love and talent for music at a very early age, Naseem’s Mother describes “When she was a toddler she was always singing and dancing in front of the TV as she watched star’s performing. We knew right away that we had a very talented daughter”.

Developing her passion for music as a young child, Breeze took classical piano lessons and was the keyboard player and a lead singer in her High School Band. She later worked as a professional singer and performer doing cover songs at night clubs. She also had her own band which performed at various venues and University festivals in Japan. In 1997 she decided it was time to take a serious step in her already-successful musical career when she moved to the United States taking her career determination and enormous talents with her. She currently resides and performs out of Southern California.

Once in the US, Breeze continued writing and performing her own brand of stylish Soul, R&B, and Jazz. Collaborating with many local artists and musicians along the way, they performed a wide variety of showcases and venues from Los Angeles to New York. She also caught the attention of a few established major record producers who wound up co-producing a lot of her demos.

Breeze cites many artists who have influenced her musical style and is quick to point out Anita Baker as her biggest influence since high school. Others include Dee Dee Bridge, Water, Ella Fitzgerald, George Benson, Earth Wind & Fire, Incognito, Tania Maria, Maxwell, Kem, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu. In the “Sounds Like” category, “Sade” is the overwhelming pick amongst her fans. When asked if her music comes from within or from what she observes around her, Breeze had no hesitation with her reply; “I believe that I’m just a receiver and a transmitter receiving inspiration from above. It's always a divine experience when it starts flowing into and out of me”.

In 2009 Breeze was discovered by Smooth Jazz artist, a French guitarist U-Nam who‘s known by his #1 hit single “Street Life”. Breeze was invited as a guest performer on U-Nam’s shows performing along with the world class musicians here in Southern California. Most recently in 2010 her TV appearance on Wake Up! TV. Breeze performed live with her band and it is currently airing on Transit TV, Los Angeles and Pasadena Community Network, Pasadena, CA.

This young talented artist’s one desire as a live performer and recording artist is her sincere wish to make her audience feel uplifted, inspired and just plain old feeling-good after leaving a “Breeze” performance. Apparently DJ Big Cal of Radio station WGBB 1240 AM in Long Island, New York agrees that her music does just that -- having given this opulent young artist the honor of airplay on his popular local radio show.

When asked if she could have increasing commercial success and still retain her artistic integrity, Breeze states, “Being true to my self is very important to me and something that I will not give up -- even if I am missing out on some huge opportunity”.

Aside from being a very talented singer/songwriter and live performer, Breeze’s other passion is in humanitarian missions which include active involvement and volunteering in the local and international communities. This album introduces a new twenty-two year old artist named Mara Hruby from Oakland, CA. She arrived on the scene at the start of 2010, playing shows throughout the Bay Area, and is releasing her debut EP, From Her Eyes. Mara has worked on this album for the past nine months; she has applied her multi-talented dedication to recording, arranging, and engineering her own work. She has performed on stage, dancing and backing other artists in the Bay Area; unconsciously preparing herself for this path. She has chosen to speak through music in order to connect with those of us who love music.

During an interview with a local entertainment magazine, Mara was asked to describe her sound: “My sound/style comes from what I have experienced in life. I feel my sound is organic, distinct, melodic, eclectic, and filled with sensitivity. To say the least, I’d call my music a melodic melting pot.”

The current practice of recording “covers” of well known music by well loved artists, has led to some very creatively unique results. The surprise breakthrough of Les Nubians’ version of Sade's mellow and soulful ballad, "The Sweetest Taboo," helped their American debut album, Princesses Nubiennes, to achieve a higher position on the Billboard charts than any other French-language album had in the previous decade.

These seven tracks represent the genesis of the view “From Mara’s Eyes” of the various works of her favorite male artists. Each song is connected to a memory experience in Mara’s young life. The beauty and elegance of Van Hunt’s “Character,” Bob Marley’s love of Jah, Mos Def’s soulful poetry, André “3000” Benjamin’s “Take Off Your Cool,” as well as D’Angelo’s “Send It On” – are all examples of art forms from today’s exceptional musicians.

Mara Hruby is a mesmerizing artist who performs on stage with poise and grace. You will be surprised to discover how naturally her music will enter your heart.

You know how sometimes we mention that we're completely shocked that an act is unsigned? You know how sometimes this shock turns to excitement that because they're unsigned, we can write about them? Yeah, that's happening right now times ten. Native New Yorker Emily King, is one of those rare industry gems that's just oozing with raw talent. She doesn't need lights, auto tune or pyrotechnics to sell records. Nope, all Emily needs to win over an audience is her insanely captivating vocals paired with her delicate and feminine songs.

But, in the spirit of full disclosure we feel it's important to you that at one point, Emily was signed. And we're not talking about a tiny indie label either; we're talking about J records which is home to recording artists like Fantasia, Jamie Foxx and Alicia Keys. In 2007, Emily's critically acclaimed debut album East Side Story was released. Her first single "Walk In My Shoes" (later re-released to include a verse by rapper Lupe Fiasco) didn't place high on the charts. But for true King fans, the song was a great introduction to Emily's talents and more importantly was a window into the themes and social issues which inspired Emily's writing. But, in typical major label fashion, slow album sales trumped the actual music and shortly after her release, King was dropped from her label. "I'm better without the label," says King. "It's like when you hear people say they're glad they went through something because they've learned lessons from it. There are some decisions I would have made differently but whatever. It doesn't make me anti music industry. I've grown up, it's all good."

While J records may have overlooked King's talent, the Grammy's certainly did not. Yes, you heard right. We said, The Grammys. In December of 2007, King's debut East Side Story was a nominee for Best Contemporary R&B Album. That same year, King embarked on a national tour with John Legend. "The John legend tour was great" King remembers. "My band mates were amazing and we laughed the entire time." So what does an extremely talented and driven Grammy nominee do when she's dropped from her label? Her own (and may we say, amazing) thing. Happier than ever, King is a staple at local venues in her hometown of NYC and has plans to release a new album independently in 2011. While we've only heard three songs from the new album, from what we can tell it's incredible and certain major label is going to be eating their words...very soon.

It was the summer of 1991 and Andre' was the co-lead vocalist for the group trio "Brother 2 Brother". They were on the verge of securing a record deal with EMI Records. A showcase performance at Cotton Row Studio in Memphis, TN would determine if they had a deal.

Andre' had been listening to audio taped messages of the Hon. Louis Farrakhan since the summer of 1990 and began visiting the Nation of Islam's local Mosque #55 that same year. He told the group that if they didn't get signed that day he was leaving to clean his life up and return to his spiritual roots. After the performance EMI Records decided that the group needed to make a few minor changes in production and art direction before they'd sign them. Andre' walked out of Cotton Row Studio, to the church, and never looked back.

He still loved music and desired to record, so he joined a local gospel choir, "The Angelic Voices Of Faith". The choir recorded with gospel great Keith Pringle, and Andre sang and co-wrote lyrics for the Choir's debut album "A Gift To You". The message of the Hon. Louis Farrakhan was still burning in Andre's consciousness, and his desire to learn more led him to join the N.O.I. (Nation of Islam) in September 1993. He put his music and recording aspirations down for the profound truths he was learning and the mission of the N.O.I.

In 2005 at the Million Family March the Hon. Min. Louis Farrakhan established 9 (nine) Ministries, one of which is the " Ministry of Arts & Culture". Andre' realized that he could be of service in that ministry and began building his studio, producing his own tracks, and writing songs based on the new perspective he'd gained from what he was learning as a Muslim in the N.O.I.

On Feb. 26, 2007, after nearly 14 years away from music, Andre' released his first CD "Rhythm Of The Truth" on CDBaby.com. Andre's first CD was inspired by his role on the "Tsunami Prayer Line" during Ramadan 2006, where Muslims from around the U.S. and parts of the world called in every morning @5am EST to pray for the Hon. Louis Farrakhan's recovery from his illness. Andre' opened the prayer line with the Muslim Adhan (call to prayer) and Al Fatiha. Andre's rendition of Adhan and Al Fatiha, entitled "Prayer Time", is available for FREE DOWNLOAD on this website.

Due to the spiritually uplifting content, born out of the experience of being "enlightened", Muhammad doesn't classify his music as R&B (Rhythm & Blues). He places his music in the newly created genre of "R&P" (Rhythm & Peace). This talented artist writes, arranges, produces, records, engineers, and publishes his own music. Andre' is a completely independent artist. Muhammad scores with a fresh sound and insightful lyrics that leaves the listener uplifted and enlightened.
